finally, a funny ad from coca-cola amatil

it’s taken a while but seems like my old employer has come up with a smart commercial. now pay attention, it’s not the first commercial, which is passable but not great. the second commercial when they received complaints for the first one is the funny one. mother is an energy drink marketed by the coca-cola company.

incidentally htfu people!

the original banned ad

the one they made after the banned one

my wife just had to remind me 'when was the last time i saw violence in adverts?” i can't recall a specific brand right now, but it seems that it's out there in most categories that target males 18-24. how about any of the US Army spots? don't they show them blowing shit up? ;-) anyways, i maybe confusing violence in adverts to overall violence seen on TV shows. blurring of the two i guess.

i think that the over-the-top violence is inherent in our culture (news, movies, tv programming, video games, etc.) cos it's what the male youth finds compelling…think “MTV jackass” mentality. not saying it's right, it's just what's out there. as brands should we be more responsible in the types of messaging we put out there? or do we just find the most relevant/compelling way to get our message across to our “target”?

here's one that i recall also getting some negative press: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkT_d2OTgv0
